Affiliations

CDM has an exclusive department devoted to research work in the field of defence management. This department provides consultancy support to the three services and applies itself in finding optimal and pragmatic solutions to the problems projected by the organizations. Research papers and study reports prepared by course participants and faculty members, offer well analyzed and practical recommendations with time- bound implementation plans for the problems that are projected. The participants are provided an opportunity to tackle live organizational problems through the Project Studies during the application phase of their curriculum. Over the years, the college has built up a rich bank of this research material, which is used by the participants, faculty and other service organisations. The faculty also undertakes editing and printing of all CDM publications. It also publishes handbooks on various management disciplines. These have become popular among practioners in this field.

OSMANIA UNIVERSITY

Master of Management Studies

The College of Defence Management has been imparting management training to selected senior officers of the armed forces, para military forces, MOD and friendly foreign countries. The core-training programme viz Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC), conducted at the College aims at enhancing managerial skills of the armed forces in various disciplines of management concepts and techniques and applications of the same at directional level. The College entered into a MOU with Osmania University, Hyderabad on 14 Aug 1994, enabling the two institutions to collaborate in the areas of management studies for mutual academic benefit. Based on the MOU, the University has recognized the erstwhile LDMC and current HDMC conducted by the College as a postgraduate degree course in Management studies, and awards the degree of ‘Master of Management Studies (MMS)’ to the successful graduates of the course.

National Center for Research

The Osmania University has recognized the College of Defence Management as a national centre for conducting research in management studies leading to the award of the degree of ‘Doctor of Philosophy(PhD)’ in Business Management. A MOU to the effect was signed between Commandant, College of Defence Management, representing HQ Integrated Defence Staff and Vice Chancellor, Osmania University on 23 Mar 2005. Based on the MOU, serving officers of the Armed Forces admitted to the programme will carry out full time research work on contemporary management issues relevant to the services leading to the award of Ph D Degree in Management Studies by Osmania University. This MOU signifies synergy of purpose between the two institutions. These significant strides in academic excellence are CDM’s vision to build knowledge centric Armed Forces, through integration of all its multi dimensional management activities to meet the expectations of the environment.

M. Phil

The officers posted to the college are now eligible for pursuing the M Phil programme of a year’s duration as Faculty Development Programme to enhance their knowledge in specialized fields from Osmania University. This programme was introduced to fill the void between the Masters and Research Programmes pursued at the college.

Project Management Association

To fulfill the felt need of advancing the discipline of Project Management (PM), CDM imparts training in PM to enable officers to be effective members of a PM team or lead/ head a PM team. The College is an ‘Institutional Life Member’ wef November 2007 of Project Management Associates which is an Indian member of International Project Management Association (IPMA)

1. 0800 hrs - 1415 hrs.
2. Adm timings for offices : 0800h to 1630h (with a lunch break from 1300h - 1330h).
3. Uniform will be worn only on all Monday & when specified in College orders.
